Crime Involvement
Generation Motivation finds that youths brought up in low-income households are more prone to crime involvement. Without having something to fill the time between after school and going to sleep, youths are more likely to involve themselves in poor choices and activities.
It is important to provide youths with the opportunities to pursue a hobby that allows them to occupy their time with something meaningful.

An activity outside of school hours works with a youth to fight against poor decisions, especially a youth in an area with higher crime rates.
Mental Illness
Not only does pursuing an interest provide a safe space for meeting new friends, healing one's mental health, but it also serves as an opportunity for self improvement.

Research finds that children in low income households are 7x more likely to self harm. Generation Motivation is working to help spread a message that youths need support from loved ones, whether that includes family or friends to succeed. We plan to connect aspiring youth to meet other aspiring youth either in their community, or online.

Increased Education
A takeaway of Generation Motivation is that we want to build and provide the information for youths to consider secondary education. We do not want to force the route of traditional 4-year college. However, we want to express that there are various education systems that youths can research to receive qualifications, certifications; in order to pursue better well paying careers. Generation Motivation wants to work hard to combat the idea that college is the only way out poverty in these low income communities.
